Visit of the Minister of the Interior to Vienna


On February 12, 2018, the next meeting of the Security Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) was held in the Hofburg palace Vienna Austria. The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel-General of the militia Rahimzoda Ramazon Hamro spoke at this meeting and informed the participants about the process of police reform, the work done by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in this direction, and the development of cooperation with the OSCE. The report of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan was positively assessed by the OSCE member states. The representatives of Slovakia, Bulgaria, the United States, Slovenia, Canada, the Russian Federation and other countries supported the initiatives and efforts of the Government of Tajikistan in the field of police reform and underscored their satisfaction with the implementation of the police reform.


Also, an official meeting of the Minister of Interior with the Thomas Greminger, OSCE Secretary General, the Chairperson of the OSCE Security Council, Ms. Maria Victoria Gonzalez Roman, the Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Center, Marcel Peshko, the OSCE Transnational Threats Department Co-ordinator Ms. Rasa Ostrauskaite, and the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Fedotov Yuri Viktorovich. 


During the meeting, issues of police reform, prevention of transnational threats, fighting organized crime and other topical issues were discussed. The representatives of the OSCE and the United Nations noted that Tajikistan is considered a reliable partner in the Central Asian region and is ready to support all initiatives of Tajikistan, since it is on the front line of fighting transnational crime.

The Republic of Tajikistan, disregard of the changing political, economic and security situation in the world, has been making firm steps towards the sustainable economic development, achievement of its strategic objectives and thereby ensuring decent life for public. This year also instability and conflicts continued in various parts of the world, and it was recognized as the difficult period full of contradictions for the international community.
