Discussion of the prospects for cooperation with CARICC

On February 14, 2018, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Major-General militia Umarzoda Ikrom Islom met with the director of the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Center for Combating Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors (CARICC), Mr. Grigory Pustovitov. 

The meeting was also attended by the Coordinator of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Mr. Reginald Pitts, the representative of the MIA of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Center for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors (CARICC), Militia Colonel Habibulloev Safar, head of the Department for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Militia Colonel Numonzoda Rakhmatullo, head of the Department international cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Colonel Militia Abdullozoda Zumrad and other officials.

At first, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Major-General of the militia Umarzoda Ikrom Islom congratulated Mr. Grigory Pustovitov with appointment to a responsible post, and wished him success in his work.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for further development and strengthening of cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Center for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors (CARICC) in the light of existing threats.

It was noted that it is necessary to direct joint efforts to prevent illicit drug trafficking, to strengthen the technical and institutional capacity of the subjects involved in combating drug trafficking, and to strengthen the exchange of operational information.

In the end, the parties expressed readiness for further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.
